Oregon Pioneer Marietta Roach Dies in Harrisburg Oregon May 15, 1886

Alford Cemetery“Died, at the family residence in Harrisburg, Oregon, May 15, 1886, Mrs. Marietta Roach, wife of Thomas Roach, aged 67 years. Mrs. Roach was a native of Pennsylvania and her maiden name was Tea. She came to Oregon in 1852, and settled near Harrisburg, where she resided until the family moved into Harrisburg. She was the mother of 7 children, 6 of whom are now living. One of her sons, Harlan Roach, is the husband of Carrie Humphrey, sister of H.C. and Norris Humphrey and Mrs. A.G. Hovey of Eugene, and resides in Portland. Her daughter Jennie is the wife of W.H. Alexander, formerly a resident of Eugene, and at present a citizen of Benton County and one of the proprietors of the Newport News.” Oregon State Journal (Eugene, OR) May 22, 1886, pg. 5, col. 2

The 1860 US Census for Linn Co. Oregon lists a Marietta and Thomas Roach with the following children; John, Benjamin, William, Thomas, Mary, Amanda & Ellen.

Find A Grave list her burial at the Alford Cemetery in Harrisburg Oregon.  Other Roaches who are buried at this cemetery are Thomas,  Amanda Jane “Jennie” Roach Alexander, Edna, Elmo T., and William H.
