New Mother Takes Her Own Life, 1899

“Death by Suicide.

breakfastMrs. Frank Llewellyn, who resides on the Washburne farm, committed suicide Friday morning while the family were at breakfast.  She had been sick for some time as the result of child birth and occupied a bed in an adjoining room.  She requested that  the door be closed after which she got up and went to a shelf and secured a bottle of carbolic acid.  She drank about an ounce of the contents, recorked the bottle and placed it on the pillow beside her.  Her struggles were heard and her husband rushed to her assistance.  Nothing could be done for her relief and in five minutes she breathed her last.  She leaves a husband and two children.

Coroner King was notified and will hold an inquest this (Friday) afternoon.” Junction City
