G W Roberts died at his residence on Willamette street, Eugene, Oregon, last Thursday November 9, 1899, aged 75 years 7 months and 15 days.
Mr Roberts was born and raised in Indiana, but moved to Missouri when about 20 years of age, where he after ward married Miss Bradly. He crossed the plains in 1850 and settled in Benton county Oregon, moving to Eugene in 1860 where he resided until his death. Mr. Roberts was well-known and well-respected everywhere for his integrity and sterling worth. He leaves four children.” Oregon State Journal (Eugene), Nov 18, 1899, pg. 5 col. 3.
Mr. Roberts is buried at the Mulkey Cemetery in Eugene Oregon. Cemetery records show Mr. G.W. Roberts born Nov. 14, 1824 and having died on Nov. 9, 1899. His wife Theresa M Roberts, born Apr 22, 1813 and died May 18, 1887. Cemetery records show about a 11 year difference between Mr & Mrs Roberts. The 1870 Lane Co. Census lists Geo. W. Roberts born in Indiana 46 yrs, Thursay (Theresa?)50 yr, born in Tennessee, and two sons; John M 18 yrs and James N 14 yrs.
