Items & persons of note:  Henry Westphael,  19yr old recent arrival from Denmark, hung himself in his employer’s (Palmer Ayres) barn.  Suffering from severe homesickness given as the cause.  Danish Brotherhood Lodge # 268 formed in Junction City, with 19 charter members.  Mrs. A.P. Boyd & son killed in train wreck.  Wife of Rev. Boyd, former pastor at Sellwood M.E. Church.  Forest Eldredge 3yr, drowned in McKay Creek near Pendleton.  W.R. Dillard, Lane Co. pioneer.  Alexander Eaton, “said to be last of the very early Lane Co., pioneers. “
